This is almost getting killed for a photo

This is looking straight up into a funnel cloud while lying on my back in my old driveway. If you look closely you can see the twist in the cloud.

This is the tornado forming up after it went over me. I think I've posted before that it touched down and made about a twenty three mile stripe across western Wisconsin a few minutes later.

Post the originals.

While I was out taking shots, lightning was popping all around me. Mostly behind me to the NE and where your seeing the shots, to the S/SE from where I was facing. Few shots did pop down pretty close behind me a few times.

Here is one of the shots where the lightning was so close it just blinded the camera.

Last year, I was in the almost same location but on the other side of the marina (or whats left of it) taking some picture of lightning that I thought was far out. Lightning stuck so close to us (I appeard to hit around 50 yards out) that it burned my retina (spelling) and blinded me for seconds. Needless to say, I jumped in the car for a while.

Wish I still had the exposed picture of the time, but I lost it on a harddrive failure about 2-3 months ago. Learned a valuable lesson that day. :wtc:

How do you time the shots or is it just spray and pray? :D

Each shot lasts 4 - 5 seconds, that's how long I keep the shutter open. I took around 400 shots in about an hour.

I tried to host them on imageshack but it's not working for me right now. I got them hosted on redlined's uploader, but it's a private uploader for the site. Can't view them here.

You can see the other few pictures I have posted here, still haven't gone through and edited them all yet.

This is where the lightning was a little too close for comfort.
