Obama promissed during his campain nobody would see any tax increase making under 250,000. They are going to tax the s**t out of us all. |

The Republicans blew 700 billion before the election, then the Dems blew over one trillion more tax dollars in less than a month. Taxes are going up for everyone, and for a very long time...and I don't see any end to the big spending either:mad:
I don't really care about cig taxes as I don't smoke but they are biting themselves in the foot if they think they will end up getting more tax revenue by doing that, the people that quit smoking or don't start in the first place will off set any increased tax revenue they might have gotten. |

I take it you dont smoke. But it will go much further than smokers. Just watch and see:D Wait till Cap and Trade comes. You will feel like a train ran up your ass! Sorry no disrespect |

I think it's funny how people expect that a politician saying "no new taxes" or "I won't raise taxes against people making under $xxx, xxx" means that they won't find another way to collect revenue.
This shit ain't going to pay for itself. |
There is alot of buyers remorse going on and I hope 2010 will be a tipping point when congress gets voted on. If it were to go the way of the republicans, they would make Obama impotent. THats what I hope for.

Quite frankly, I'm stunned when I read comments like yours or when I hear people like Rush Limbaugh hoping for Obama's failure. I've lost faith in the Republican's. They dug this shit hole we're standing in and now they're working pretty hard to make sure we're stuck in it. |
Quote:
What Rush said and what the media made no attempt to clarify, was that he wanted obama to fail because his policies are socialist. I don't want him to succeed for the same reason, Obama succeeding means the America I love is gone. The media you got your info from didn't give you the context of the comment, which is par for the course with liberals. |

I can tell you the part of America I love is the ones that dont feel like the government should take care of all their needs at the expense of all the taxpayers. ;) Just my 2 cents |

I have no idea how things are going to be 'fixed' but I can't imagine that George W would be doing any better at this point. |
Quote:
I know this is a over simplification but I believe the fix is to get government out of the way. That's one of the big things that allowed our country to prosper. Too much government interference never results in long term prosperity. It results in massive ungodly debt and bureaucracy that makes it nearly impossible to get anything done. |

Bahh, we live in a marketing society that is driven by credit. Hollywood and NY start of using the media muscle to push everything down everyone's throats. People eat it up too, and then no one can get it but the bankers pass around IOU's and write paper checks to pay for these goods. And the rest of the population is now paying taxes and making payment. Where is the true capitol?
This isn't a political crisis as much as it is a social one. Obama isn't gonna slap Hollywood hard with taxes, you think Oprah is worth all that money. I grew up in DC and spent lots of time pummeled by the inner loop lingo . If we have a capitol that is a dump if you go 10 blocks in any direction from the mall, how are they gonna fix the country? People need to get back to doing things instead of being scared by the media... The sun is gonna rise tomorrow I know it. The big machine will push forward and times will again get better. On the Tobacco thing, well the valley I live in was full of tobacco farmers when I was a kid. I mean it was everywhere and the burley tobacco auctions were a huge deal. Now there is not one tobacco farm. The tax should be placed on the imported tobacco and bring back American farming. I can only imagine how the valley would smell if they were to legalize marijuana. That would most definitely stimulate my local economy. And I am not talking about Jay and Silent Bob, but real old man farmers could afford to put their tractors back to work. I don't get either why talk of universal coverage is so associated with socialism? I easily see where we should have a basic needs system in place where imminent life threatening illnesses and emergency care should be available to all, but still I am sure the private practices would flourish and people would still buy insurance to get better choices. |

Actually Andy more in this order: Bill Clinton, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and Obama |
Well then, now you're getting some where. But it amazes me that people are so blinded by their party affiliation that they will hold harmless the guy that ran the show for the last 8 years.
I can't even begin to understand how you can blindly ignore it. |
At all costs.... blame Bush and the GOP. Deflect, deflect Will Robinson.
What I do blame Bush for is caving into the Libtards and Dems too often. Back on subject though, I smoke and now think even better than quitting for my health is to quit to spite the Media's Messiah. I made the day the tax hits in my area the day I quit. Not another penny more than I have to will I give to the Socialist cause. |
Quote:
But the same folks who are saying "deflect deflect" and want to absolve Bush of everything are the ones blaming the guy whose been in office for 73 days. |
It's time for The One, the great community organizer to stand on his own. How long do we blame Bush for anything that happens from today forward? I guess if you watch MSLSD you can do it forever. Again I'll blame Bush and Company for not running Bawney and Dodd out of town. Dems held congress for the last two years of Bush's second term. I guess it WAS Bush's fault he didn't try harder to regulate Fanny and Freddie. Look up some numbers and see when the shit started hitting the fan. Pubs were blocked at every turn trying to regulate Fannie and Freddie with more than cooked books.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs Yes Andy the financial crisis is patially due to Obama... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RZVw3no2A4 I myself wasn't particulary impressed with Bush and Company, but if the Messiah is all he's cracked up to be along with a total Dem Libtard controlled Congress we should see the Country in total bliss soon right? But it seems the more time goes along all we're seeing is more spending with no end in sight. More backdoor taxes on smokes, beer is coming, wait for Cap and Trade, God I hope that doesn't pass or we're screwed, more direct taxes on small business, gas will be the next thing because it's evil to drive to work to pay those taxes. Is Bush doing this? Find me some evidence how Bush and Company caused the housing bubble. The root cause of the Ecomonic crisis we're in. For God sakes stop watching PMSNBC, Obledick and cum in pants Matthews are so far in the tank for the Messiah it's shameful. They're talking about how Michelle is dressing, these are the important facts to them. The only good thing to come out of all this is that I can buy a shitload of low priced stocks that have no where to go but up. It's a hell of roller coaster right now but it seems every second day I gain more than I lose on the inbetween days. If the Messiah would just stay off TV, keep his yap closed and let the free market run it's course things would turn around much faster. |
Now this is more like the good ole days!
Argue on my friends :p |
Actually, this is the kind of thing that killed the community.
|
I doubt that Andy, I think people just got tired of the game and moved on. UT99 or whatever it was was fun to the max but like all good things came to an end. None of the other UT games lived up to the hype and people trying to recreate the same maps or similar circumstances just didn't play the same.
Not to mention people just grow up after while and put the games down. I don't see anything here in this thread but a spirited discussion. If that's what killed the community that's sad. Again I doubt that because it seemed to be the spirited discussions that kept people coming back. Look at this thread, seems like there's more activity in this thread than you guys get all year. I'd have to say the heated debates were what kept the blood pumping in the community, when that ended so did everything else. It's like watching a train wreck over and over again, who doesn't like that? |

I don't think I was around then. But in any case as long as things don't turn into personal attacks debates CAN be civil. It's hard when you have the anonymity of the Internet though, I think we've all done it at one time or another.
Then again, as time goes on that anonymity you think you have isn't all what you thought it was. Just about anybody these days can be called out, found out and dragged through the mud pretty darn easily. ![]() |

|
You think Olbermann and Matthews will cover this? How can it be ignored? Sure as shit though they'll call all these people right wing nut jobs.
Let the map populate, it's staggering! http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...4&source=embed |

Ps I just read the loose tobacco tax went up 2000%.. I don't know how valid that is but GD I'm glad I don't smoke.
|
I think more people will quit than they think, it's another good reason to stop.
|
I live in a southern state and might try growing my own if this keeps up. Just got to buy a shit load of papers for rolling:D Ahhhh maybe time to quit:eek:
