Installing UT2k4 under linux

Farrier and Freak are playing Guild Wars now. It takes too long for me, plus the wife gets mad if I'm on the computer too long.

My biggest issue with 2k4 under native linux is no game sound.

Since 99 under wine gives me sound through the speakers, plus allows me to use Teamspeak on the usb headset, I'll try 2k4 under wine to see if that gives me sound.

Which Linux are you using? I tried Redhat, didn't like it one bit.

Fedora 7, I've been off the windows at home for I'd guess about 4 months?

I've seen a lot of Geento (sp?) Linux users run UT99 as well as Ubuntu Linux. I havn't heard many success stories w/ RedHat/SuSE or Debian (even though Ununtu is a derivative of Deb).

I've been a persistent hard head with it this time around, just to be able to say I did it. Now that I've been using it a few months ( the last 20 or so distros made it less then a week for me :P) I'll stay with it until it bugs me too much.

Yeah man, I remember those guys as well. I liked those guys both in game and on forums
